Swatches: Sally Hansen Sugar Coat "Cotton Candies"
Hey everyone! Recently, a new nail polish trend has been surfacing. I know that there are a lot of high-end brands out there that have already released their versions but as you know, I am more of a drugstore version when it comes to nail polishes. I think 98% of my polishes are drugstore brands and I am fine with that because a lot of drugstore brands are on par, if not better than high-end brands. I am surprised that I bought this nail polish on a whim because usually I would look for swatches and reviews first but I couldn't help it since I have been wanting to try out this trend for a while now. So when I saw a CVS employee setting up the display, I just had to grab one to try out.
Sally Hansen Sugar Coat "Cotton Candies" is a gorgeous pink. I know that this collection has a mint green, mint blue, black, white, and I think a dark blue shade but I was mostly attracted to the pink. I have had this polish on my nails for three days before it started chipping at the tips. I didn't apply a top coat over it because I heard that when you apply a top coat, the bumps (or texture) starts to disappear. I have to admit, it did feel a bit weird after it dried on my nails. I kept on rubbing my fingers against my nails to feel the texture and checking out the bumps. I didn't like it at first but I got used to it after a couple of hours. It is an interesting texture.
With this nail polish, the directions are easy. I know that some people had a little bit of trouble with the magnetic polishes when they were in trend. With these nail polishes, all you have to do is shake the bottle gently and then apply two thin coats. You will instantly start to see texture in the nail polish once its applied onto your nails.
If you have been curious about trying this nail trend out, you can consider giving these Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes a try. They are $5.99 plus tax at my CVS store but prices vary by stores and region. Plus if you buy this week, CVS has a sale where if you spend $10 on Sally Hansen cosmetics (including Sally Hansen nail polishes), you get $5 ECBs back. Thats a pretty good sale, if you wanted to save some money. Plus there are always coupons that you can combine with the sale for even better savings! The sale ends June 1, 2013 if you guys are interested.

The finish looks matte. Is it? I have a couple liquid sand from OPI and one from Zoya and they have sparkles in them, which I prefer because it looks like you have sugar crystals on your nails.
ReplyDeleteYeah it does have a matte finish to it. I don't think I've seen any with sparkles in them. I might have to look for those..
