Review: WnW Juicy Lip Balm SPF 15

Hey everyone! I don't know if you remember but I did a review about these WnW Juicy Lip Balm SPF 15 last year but now my opinions about it have changed and I wanted to do another updated review on these. I haven't tried all of the different shades but I am pretty sure they are almost the same. Keep in mind that these are my own opinions. These lip balms might work differently for your lips. Everyone's lips are different.

Okay, so these are somewhat new products. They were just released last year. I think they were released around July 2011. So far, I think there are only 4 different shades. I don't know if WnW are going to be releasing new shades. The current shades are:
❀ 283C Strawberry (1st swatch)
❀ 281C Raspbery (2nd swatch)
❀ 280C Cherry
❀ 282C Watermelon

The two shades that I bought and will be talking about in this post are Strawberry and Raspberry. I was going to buy the Cherry one as well but there was only one left and it was already opened and tampered with. I bought the green one as well just to try out because I was curious about the color. If you haven't seen these, Watermelon is a green lip balm. Yes, you read right! It is a GREEN lip balm. I took it home to swatch it and oh my goodness, it came out sickly green. I tried it on my lips because I didn't want to be skeptical about it. I mean, who knows, it might look better on my lips. Boy, was I wrong! It have my lips this horrible green shade. I don't know why WnW would come out with a green lip balm. Who would buy and keep a green lip balm? I immediately returned it the next day. Haha! It literally makes your lips look like they are sick. These are tinted lip balms because they do give off a tiny amount of color on your lips.

Okay, onto the actual review on the ones that I bought! Taken from Wet N Wild's press release, "Good enough to eat! These delectably juicy lip balms keep lips moisturized all day, while protecting that pout from harmful UVB rays with SPF 15. The four mouthwatering flavors are enriched with avocado oil, vitamin E and natural marine extract for continuous moisture."

I personally disagree about these being delectable. After a couple of times wearing these, they just started to leave a nasty taste in my mouth. These didn't hve a taste the first couple of times trying these but after a couple of days, they started to have a taste. There was actually a time where I had to buy some gum because it left such a horrible taste in my mouth and throat that I couldn't take it. Even my boyfriend commented on it after he kissed me. Haha! That was a little embrassing but sort of funny at the same time. He actually told me to stop using them and to just chuck them, which I couldn't because I paid for these. Yes, I am a cheapie! LOL Plus I don't know if these are really moisturizing. They tend to slide around on my lips and I feel like I need to reapply every few minutes or just wipe it all off and use another lip balm.
The biggest thing that I hate about these lip balms is that they made my lips peel after a couple of times of using these. It made them so dry. I have never had my lips peel from using a product before and these just were horrible for my lips. These have a decent amount of product. I would mostly call them jumbo lip balms because they are much more bigger than your typical drugstore lip balm. These do have a fragrance to them. They smell true to their name. They smell pretty good. Even my little brother likes the smell of these lip balms as well. He says that they smell yummy, too bad that they don't taste yummy as well. I really like the Strawberry one because it smells like the scratch n sniff strawberry.

You can buy these anywhere where WnW products are sold. I have seen these at Target, WalMart, CVS, Walgreens, and RiteAid. Prices may vary by region but I bought these for $2.99USD plus tax. WnW products do tend to go on sale at drugstores. I have seen WnW products go for 40% off sometimes at RiteAid. If you don't want to pay $2.99USD for a lip balm, then you can wait for sale.

PROS:
  • They are tinted lip balms. You just have to beware of the Watermelon one because it will give your lips a sickly green tint.
  • Inexpensive, they retail for $2.99USD plus tax.
  • They have SPF 15, which is always great for the lips.
  • They have a ton of product. Each lip balm contains about 0.26 oz of product.
  • You can see the actual color through the clear cap.
CONS:
  • They leave a nasty taste in your mouth and throat.
  • They don't keep your lips moisturized. With these, you have to reapply constantly, more usually than with another drugstore lip balm.
  • The packaging is somewhat kiddish looking and cheap. I see little kids getting attracted to these more than adults. The cap is just a clear plastic cap
  • The product doesn't go all the way down in the tube, so you have to be careful when you put the cap back on otherwise you might nick the lip balm.
FINAL VERDICT:
I would not recommend these WnW Juicy Lip Balms SPF 15! I would see little kids getting attracted to these but even I wouldn't buy these for my little nieces and cousins because of the bad taste. All in all, I don't even use these anymore. I might just throw these away but I hate wasting money. I do know that everytime I use these, they make my lips peel after a couple of uses.
What about you? Have you ever used these lip balms before? What do you think about these?

WalMart Haul (1.22.12)

Hey everyone! So I have been wanting to go to WalMart for a while to see if they had any good sales going on. I didn't get that much because it was kind of crowded and it was hot in the store. I just wanted to get all the stuff that I needed and get back out into the fresh air. LOL Not everything that I bought at WalMart is going to be shown here. I just bought vitamins, astringent, Kikoman soy sauce, and some floss. I am only going to be showing the vitamins and astringent.

What I bought (health & beauty items only):
❀Caltrate Calcium & Vitamin D
I have been looking for some Calcium vitamins that are chewables. I hate taking pills, especially large pills so its a great relief to find some in chewables. This came with 165 chewable tablets with three different flavors: cherry, orange, and fruit punch. The pills are pretty big but thats fine since they are chewables. I have tried these and have been taking them since I bought them. They aren't that good but that's fine. They do taste like their intended flavor but they also have that powdery residue afterwards, which water always cures. LOL I can't remember the exact price of this but I do know that it was $14USD to $15USD.

❀Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent
I am so sad about this product. The cashier has put all my items in one bag and on the way home, I noticed that it has opened and spilled half of its content (as you can see from the picture, its now only half full) all over in the plastic bag. I wish that Clean & Clear had put a saftely seal around the cap or something. I am just glad that it didn't soak into my other products. I had to clean everything up on the ride home, which was a pain because I had cuts on my fingers and lets just say, that the astringent burned like crazy! I haven't tried out this product yet so I don't know if it would actually do anything for my pimples.

So I hope you all like my haul. It is pretty small but I am happy about the products that I bought, except for the Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent since it opened and spilled in the bag on the way home. I am hoping that the Calcium chewables will help out because I don't really drink milk. Plus I am getting older and I need all the Calcium that I can get. Have any of you ever tried these chewables? What do you think about Clean & Clear? Have you tried this astringent before?

Review/Swatches: ELF Studio Concealer Pencil & Brush "Light"

Hi everyone! Sorry if I haven't been posting as much. I have been super busy getting ready for New Years! Yes, you read right! Lunar, Chinese or what I like to call it Vietnamese New Years! Haha! So if you didn't already know, today is Lunar New Year!

HAPPY VIETNAMESE NEW YEARS!!

Okay, lets get down to the review. Haha! I just wanted to post up a review on a product that I have been using everyday and loving. It is the ELF Studio Concealer Pencil & Brush. I have it in the shade Light. I love this concealer. I have been using it everyday since I bought it. I still can't believe what a great concealer I found at such an inexpensive price. As you can see from my picture, its been lovingly used. I still have a great amount left but once its gone, I am definitely going to get another one.

WHAT: It is the ELF Studio Concealer Pencil & Brush in Light. They have this in three shades: Fair, Light, and Medium. You can use this concealer to "conceal and heal acne for on the spot treatment," according to the packaging that the product came in. I don't know if it really heals my acne. I don't really see any difference except that it gets covered. On the packaging, it also says that it contains "medicated formula with active Salicylic Acid and Tea Tree Oil [to heal] and clear blemishes." This concealer pencil contains 2% Salicylic Acid. Like I said before I don't really know if it even does anything for my acne except that its really good at concealing them. Also this product contains a concealer brush at the other end of the pencil, which I love because its so easy to put in your purse and bring with you during the day for any touch-ups. This concealer is so creamy that it goes on the skin so good and plus you can easily blend it out with the brush provided. It also has a sharpener on the cap, so its great in case you are on the go and need to resharpen.

HOW: According to the directions, you have to "use the Conceal side of the pencil to cover up any unwanted blemishes or imperfections. Use the Blend brush to work the formula into the skin to create a beautiful and even coverage." Also there is a sharpener attached to the cap of the concealer pencil, which you can use to sharpen the concealer anytime you need to get more product. I use this concealer to cover up my acne scars, blemishes, and pimples (pretty much anything that pops on my face lol). I never tried it for concealing my under eye area so I don't really know how it would hold up. I probably wouldn't use it for my under eye area because I think it would probably make the lines around my eyes more noticable.

**Keep in mind, that the concealer isn't going to be completely color matched on my wrist because my face is a different shade from my wrist. When this concealer is used on my face on my blemishes and is completely blended out, you won't be able to tell that I am wearing concealer.**

PRICE: The ELF Studio Concealer Pencil & Brush retails for $3USD. You can purchase it cheaper whenever the ELF website is having a sale, which they always seem to.

WHERE: You can buy this product anywhere ELF Studio products are sold. So far, the only store that I know that sells ELF Studio products are select Target stores. You can also purchase this online at the ELF website. I think you can also purchase it on the Target website but I am not sure.

REPURCHASE?: Yes, I would definitely repurchase this product. I love it. I use it everyday on all my blemishes and acne. It covers them very well. On some days, I might have to reapply because it gets pretty hot where I live but thats fine with me, because its so portable to bring with me during the day. I have everything that I would need to cover up a blemish, both the concealer and the brush to blend it out. Plus its so inexpensive, which is great for my wallet. If you haven't tried this product out, you should definitely give it a try!
